Tech Specs

Advanced Guardrail (AGR) Tower is a type of Access Tower built from prefabricated frames rather than the horizontal and diagonal braces found in standard scaffold tower. The improved rigidity makes AGR Tower safer to erect and reduces the risk of workers falling from height.

Adjustable, lockable castors allow the tower to be moved around site and erected on slightly uneven ground. Platforms are manufactured from a non slip ply for safety, and 1.1m guardrails minimise the risk of falling from the platform. In addition, each access tower is provided with a toeboard set that prevent items falling off the side of the tower.

As each new level is added onto a tower, the operatives first install the AGR frames and tower frames from a safe guard railed position on the platforms below. Once the AGR frames are in place, platforms for the next level are installed such that the two uppermost horizontal bars on the AGR frames form guardrails at 0.5m and 1.0m above the deck level. This process repeats until the tower is at the required height.

  • Fewer components than typical scaffold towers
  • Less chance of missing components
  • Safer and easier to erect than standard scaffold towers
  • We recommend securely tying the tower at platform heights above 8m outdoors and 12m indoors for safety
  • Frames must always be assembled with the offset conical head fitting pointing inwards towards the centre of the tower.
